Environment
Pinto beans are warm weather crops, which means they prefer to grow in hot weather. If you have the beans in an environment that is 60 degrees Fahrenheit or below, they will most likely freeze and never grow.
Watering
You need to keep the soil moist, which is less than wet. A good way to check is if you stick your finger in the pot and it comes out wet that is too much, but if you feel that the dirt is moist and your finger just feels damp then you have it right.
The idea is to give the plant moisture but not drown the roots.
