Environment
Airplane plants (Spider Plants) prefer bright light, and tend toward scorching in direct sunlight. However, they will grow in conditions ranging from semi-shady to partial direct sun. They do not have to have soil to grow. They can simply live in water alone. For the plants to survive they need to live an environment with a temperature of 60 degrees Fahrenheit and above.
Where do they grow?
Airplane plants are usually house plants. They grow on anything, they hang from anything, grow upside down, right side up, sideways or just about anywhere.
Watering
The Spider Plant requires only light watering. Allow the soil to dry completely in between waterings. You only need to water the plant once every two weeks. If the foliage begins to show black tips or a yellow halo, you are probably over watering the plant.
